They laughed at me, Because I shared my dream to study abroad.
- “You cannot speak English well enough.”
- “You do not have enough money.”
- “Your parents cannot support you; it is not realistic.”
It hurt because it was true. I could not speak English at a good enough level so I could continue my studies abroad. I worked my ass off and still didn’t have enough savings. My parents were worried because they couldn’t help me. I couldn’t even explain it myself. How could I achieve it?
But I wanted it to be true. So I ignored the noise. Focused on what was within my control:
- My application letter.
- Save as much money as I could.
1 year, countless work-hours and sleepless nights later, I found myself in Denmark. I realized it was possible. Was not easy. Not at all. I continued working crappy jobs. But I saw it was possible. Eight years later, I am in Singapore writing this post. Holding two degrees from Danish universities.
- Traveled to +30 countries
- Lived in 6 countries.
- Launched 4 startups.
Whatever course you decide upon, there will always be naysayers.
